Highlights

One thing that I have discovered through my technical career is that having a technical education is not enough to really make it in the IT field, the real knowledge comes from hands on experience by actually working.

So, What is my advice? Go out in to the world and get experience while you're still in school. Get internships or volunteer. That's the best way to get your foot in the door. Internships give you a chance to experience what it's like to work in the real world and gain practical skills that will be valuable to companies when you graduate and will give you the edge over the person who is applying for the same job. Make sure that it is a job that you will enjoy and in an environment in which you will be comfortable.
