Highlights

What advice and recommendations can I offer the women just entering IT?

Find a mentor or a professional in the field you are interested in entering. A mentor is a person who agrees to help teach and guide another person.

My next advice is to ask questions. The only stupid questions are the once that are unasked. If you are ever in a situation where you don't know something, ASK! Don't be afraid to look stupid…asking questions is the only way you will learn. Asking a lot of questions is how I learned.

The career opportunities for women in IT are endless. Women need to overcome the fear of technology and just go out and learn as much they can. My advice to women in IT is to "dig in" and don't be afraid to get your hands "dirty". Computers don't bite, they are a useful tool and are a lot of fun....well, most of the time :)
